Camperworld – Echo Island Ranch Closed due to Flooding of the Weber River

Camperworld – Echo Island Ranch literally has a river running through the property.  The Weber River has crested and is spilling over its banks causing major flooding inside the park, preventing Camperworld members from camping there this 4th of July weekend.  KSL and the Deseret News recently did stories on the flooding.  You can read and watch the KSL story by clicking here.

If you would like to read the Deseret News story, click here.

We look forward to seeing you at our other nine resorts while the flood waters recede.  Thanks for your patience.

Camperworld Members are Getting Anxious to go Camping

The phones have been ringing off the hook for the past few weeks at the Camperworld corporate office.  You’re probably wondering why members would be calling the office if they don’t have to make reservations to go camping.  Calls are coming in to book cabins, extra spaces for friends and family, and family reunions.  People are calling to get their dog cards renewed and to just find out if the parks are open yet.  Aside from a little snow at Knotty Pine Resort, Pleasant Creek Ranch and Pine Forest Park, all resorts are open and have been accessible to RV’s for the last couple of months.  We even had a few members out at the resorts during the winter – with your site cleared by our on-site managers and a little heat tape anything is possible.

You have probably seen the news lately about the snow pack this year and how it is affecting the lakes, reservoirs and rivers.  Everywhere you look rivers are swelling and lakes are at full capacity.  As of yesterday, our resorts at Echo Island Ranch and Knotty Pine Resort have not seen any problems with flooding.  The managers are predicting that there may be some problems in the near future.  If you remember, last year Echo Island Ranch had to be shut down for 1 week while the water drained from the park.  Knotty Pine Resort was not affected last year.  Only time will tell.  Worst case scenario:  You may miss out on a week or two at these resorts while the snow melts.   Keep your fingers crossed.

We look forward to the new year.  I have personally spoken with a lot of members over the last month or so, and without exception everyone has said they are going to attempt to get out camping a lot more this year.  With such a valuable membership at some of the finest resorts in Utah, our Camperworld members should take full advantage of the benefits that their membership provides, many of which are not found at any other private campground in the nation.  Call us at the Camperworld office (801) 262-8166 or visit our website if you have any questions.  Happy camping!

Things to do While Camping at Camperworld – Apple Garden Park (Bear Lake – Garden City, Utah))

Bear Lake

A View of Bear Lake from Camperworld's Apple Garden Park

Time and time again we hear campers ask us what there is to do while camping at their Camperworld resorts throughout Utah.  Over the next several weeks I’m going to compile a list of activities, events, festivals, etc. throughout Utah.  Some people like to camp for the sole purpose of getting away from the crowds and hectic pace of city life.  Some campers want to spend more time with family.  And some use camping as an excuse to attend fairs, festivals, rodeos, etc.  The following is a list of things to do near Garden City, Utah.  If you know of other things to do, feel free to contribute to this blog.

1)  Beaver Mountain Music Festival – Usually in July and August.  Folk, bluegrass, Funk and Reggae.

2)  Raspberry Days – Usually the first week of August.  A lot of people consider Raspberry Days an unofficial holiday.

3)  Heritage Days – Usually the 2nd week in September.  Tons of activities for kids and adults.

4)  Laketown Rodeo – Usually in August.  For more information call (435) 757-0921 or (435) 881-1411.

5)  Pickleville Playhouse – “Since its first production in 1977, Pickleville has been known for its unforgettable brand of family fun and entertainment.”

For more events at Bear Lake such as bike rides, marathons, car shows, rodeos and fairs, check out a calendar of events at the Bear Lake Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Where Can I Find the Best Off-Road Trails in Utah?

Do you love to ATV, snowmobile or off-road? Where are the best trails in Utah anyway? I meet a lot of ATV owners who surprisingly only know of a few of the better-known trails in Utah’s wilderness. Why is that? Maybe they just don’t know where to go.  Some of these people are new ATV owners and some are transplants from California.  Well, I found a great website that lists most of the off-road trails throughout Utah. Check it out here: http://www.utah.com/offroad/.  Our Camperworld members tell us that they love the Shoshone Trail near Bear Lake as well as the Paiute Trail near Marysvale, Utah.  Feel free to tell us about your own favorite trails, especially if they’re not listed on the website above.  Thanks for visiting our Camperworld blog.  We’ll see you on the trails.

Where Can I Find the Best Fishing Spots in Utah?

I found this cool website that I thought had some great information for all those anglers out there.  It is sponsored by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and shows where all the great fishing is in Utah.   The map is interactive and shows the best fishing spots, the slowest fishing spots and everything in between.   If you are planning a fishing trip, why not plan your destination according to where the fish are plentiful?   For example, the hottest spots in Utah as of today are: 1) Pelican Lake (Bluegill, Large Mouth Bass); and, 2) Flaming Gorge (Kokanee Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Mountain Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass).

Some of the next best fishing can be found at places like Mill Hollow, Strawberry Reservoir, and Bear Lake.   And don’t forget about all the trout located all throughout Utah’s lakes, rivers and streams.   And if you have Internet access you can keep track of what’s happening on a daily basis and change your fishing itinerary in real-time.   Just click on this link – Utah Division of Wildlife Resources – and check out the map.

Camperworld, Camping and Cabins

Camperworld - Mt. Pleasant Cabin

Camperworld's newest cabin at Pleasant Creek Ranch

You’re probably asking yourself why Camperworld Trust would want to put cabins in their Utah outdoor RV resorts? We asked ourselves that question initially and were hesitant about how our members would respond. We were surprised when our cabins were booked for the entire season in just 3 weeks. We thought it was just a fad, but Camperworld members told us that they wanted us to build more cabins. We’ve built 4 cabins so far and they are consistently booked for most of the year. Some of our members also like to bring family and friends camping with them who don’t have RV’s. Guess where they can stay? In the cabins and they love them.

Camperworld has several sizes of cabins, from 400 square feet to 1100 square feet. And the cabins are furnished all the way down to the dishes. Members need only bring their linens and food.  Our cabins are beautiful inside and out.
